本文在綜述國內學者相關研究成果的基礎上，從空間結構的角度出發，利用空間結構與區域經濟協調發展的關系，藉助于因子分析方法，計算了反映江蘇省區域間差距的主要指標，繪出了江蘇省的空間結構圖，分析了江蘇省空間結構存在的主要問題，給出了江蘇省空間結構優化的政策建議，提出江蘇省「一圈五軸」的網路式空間格局，從而使江蘇省在繼續保持蘇南地區快速發展的同時，加快蘇中特別是蘇北地區的發展，形成協調發展的局面，達到區域經濟協調發展的目的。
