After discussing the theoretical basis for a designing method of cam mechanism based on output force ( moment ) characteristics, a new designing method for that mechanism is presented and then, employed for designing a spring actuating mechanism in vacuum circuit breaker with singlephasy single breaker contact which operates under the condition of high - voltage and large - current. the application of this method shows that the cam mechanism designed by using the method presented can completely meet the requirement of output force characteristics for the mechanism and, furthermore, the performance of the mechanism is remarkably better than that of similar mechanisms designed by using conventional methods
