研究認為該氣藏構造簡單，只在鳳凰山形成了一個小型的鼻狀構造；屬於三角洲前緣亞相沉積模式，水下分流河道和河口壩是有利的沉積微相；儲層物性差，儲層巖石的孔隙類型主要有粒間孔、粒間（內）溶孔及少量晶間微孔；影響蓬萊鎮組氣藏儲層孔隙結構及儲集性的因素有巖相、巖性條件及成巖作用；所有測試井自然產能都極低，必須經加砂壓裂后才有工業開采價值，且投產初期，油套壓下降較快，氣井產量下降迅速。
