晶閘管具有過零、動作快速的特點，本研究以晶閘管為電容器和電抗器的分組投切開關，重點研究了協調變壓器二次電壓的選擇、晶閘管觸發控制及保護、動態補償容量及分組容量的計算確定、過零投切電容器和電抗器技術的實現、以及分組投切電容器和電抗器可能發生諧振的處理計算方法，給出實現最佳補償投切選擇方法（測控系統、儀表變送系統、操作和保護系統的設計步驟） ，研製了一套高可靠性晶閘管觸發控制及保護系統，實現對無功的靜止可調補償。
