本系統通過計算機控制步進電機控制卡來給出步進電機驅動器需要的脈沖信號和方向信號，進而帶動電機驅動儀表指針轉動，計算機通過串口實時採集光柵測量系統的微位移信號，並且通過高精度ccd攝像機實時獲取表盤圖像數據，同時通過計算機軟體實現表盤圖像處理，包括預處理、灰度化、二值化、細化和hough變換等，最終快速識別出表盤指針的位置，並根據國家表類檢定規程所制定的演算法檢定出指針式儀表的各種精度。
