"六隱士"的創作靈感源自魏晉時期220 - 420 "竹林七賢"的生平與著作，以其中六人既荒誕又富哲理的事跡為藍本，整套作品由2000年開始醞釀，香港作曲家陳慶恩與歌樂坊的藝術總監roland peelman一起構思，后來發展成澳洲的歌樂坊香港的鳴樂坊與七位分別來自歐美及亞太區的作曲家的國際性合作。
