本文利用中國20世紀後半葉較為完整的逐日溫度和降水觀測資料，設計了嚴格的資料質量控制方法，以統計上的邊緣分佈的客觀定義為主要依據，確定了極端溫度和降水事件，研究揭示了近50年中國極端氣候事件變化的規律，得到以下主要結果： 1 .全國最高溫度的極端高值略趨下降；最低溫度的極端低值升溫趨勢顯著，這種增溫在冬季、在北方最顯著。
