本文從吳江民營經濟，特別是民營企業的發展現狀入手，從企業自身發展、區域特點和行業經濟特點三方面對吳江民營工業的發展現狀進行分析，提出了吳江民營工業今天的「一鎮一品」 、 「五大板塊」的行業特點和經濟局面，是在「蘇南模式」和「溫州模式」的雙重影響下，有效激活集體存量資產，利用吳江豐厚的產業基礎、人力資源以及活躍開放的經商理念等文化歷史因素，抓住產業發展的歷史機遇，依靠自身優勢，發展龍頭企業，重視傳統產業，拓展配套延伸而形成的。
