Abstract : the physical significances of the reaching law parameters and the qualitative relationships among them in variable structure control ( vsc ) are analyzed. according to the relationships, a reaching law control method is put forward based on fuzzy rules. to improve control quality, the reaching law parameters are selected by fuzzy rules. the control scheme presented in this paper not only preserves the advantages of traditional reaching law control, that is, insensitivity to any variation and perturbation of the plant parameters, but also possesses the adaptation to control quality of variable structure control systems. the simulation results show the chattering in vsc systems is highly reduced
