It scans original paper musical score by digital equipments, such as scanner, and generates a bitmap of a scanned sheet of music, then processes and recognizes the music information in the bitmap file by using a special software system and at last turns the music information into general digital music format ( such as midi format )
它利用掃描儀等數碼設備，對已有的紙質樂譜進行掃描，形成數字樂譜圖像，再利用專用的軟體系統進行處理與識別，從中提取出音樂信息，最後轉化成通用的數字音樂格式（如midi格式） 。
