    本論文就地理信息系統在交通規劃中的應用進行了研究，在gis的理論基礎和軟體開發平臺的基礎上，針對交通規劃的特點進行了gis的二次開發，結合某城市主城區交通小區和道路網路的實際例子，建立交通規劃信息系統的基礎數據庫，包括空間數據庫和屬性數據庫，並提供相應工具對圖形數據和屬性數據進行編輯和修改，可以非常靈活地對它們進行增、刪、改等操作，對交通規劃的前期預測、交通需求預測、交通分配及規劃方案的評價進行了探討，最後，對交通規劃成果進行可視化輸出，如製作各種專題圖，從而將地理信息系統和交通規劃結合起來，形成交通規劃信息系統，將交通規劃中具有空間特徵的信息進行可視化表達，為信息利用者提供直觀、清晰、全面的信息表達方式，提高了交通規劃決策的科學性和合理性。
