It was found that the ultra - fine powder can flow smoothly in a spouted bed with a draft tube under some sorts of design parameter and operating condition, thus a new effective method to improve fluidization quality of the ultra - fine powders is obtained ; at higher supplied gas velocity, an increase in the solid circulation rate is observed ; the extent of the distance between the nozzle and the draft tube inlet result in the promotion of the solid circulation rate ; the solid circulation rate increase with increasing the draft tube diameter or the bed mass ; the gas bypassing is nearly zero in the present work ; and the solid flow in the annulus is observed as a moving bed
