Because operations would destroy the local anatomic structure and in most cases it is difficult to excise widly aggressive tumors perfectly, the author suggests that the auditory canals should be excised or extended mastoidotympanectomy with radiotherapy after operation be prefomed for the tumors limited to external canal or middle ear. radiotherepy before operation can be conducted before extended mastoidotympanectomy or subtotal temporal bone resection for the cases with tumors beyond the middle ear. for the cases with tumors largely beyond the middle ear mastoidotomy can be preformed before thorough radiotherapy
鑒于手術治療對局部解剖結構破壞性大，且對浸潤范圍較廣的癌，多數情況下亦難以將其切除干凈，故主張：對局限於外耳道或中耳腔癌，可先行耳道切除或擴大乳突根治術加術後放療；對略超出中耳之癌，可行術前放療，然後再進行擴大乳突根治術或顳骨次全切除術；對超出中耳范圍較廣者，可應用乳突開放術，然後進行根治性放療。
