This paper, with the intention of accelerating the rationalization of the population flow, explores the historical and present household registration systems in china and other countries, then analyses the relations between the present household registration system and the social mobility by the sociological methods after having identified the relationship between the population flow and the social mobility, and draws a conclusion from the analysis that if we want to rationalize the population flow, we should not cancel but reform the present household registration system completely
本文以促進社會人口合理流動為目的，從歷史與現實的角度，考察了我國及世界其它國家的戶籍制度，接著在確定社會人口流動與社會流動關系的情況下，運用社會學的研究方法，分析了戶籍制度與社會流動關系，進而得出要使社會人口流動合理化，就必須對戶籍制度進行全面而徹底的改革，而不是要取消戶籍制度的結論。
