本文通過對城市住宅發展的歷史回顧和成因分析，探討了新世紀城市住宅的發展趨向；針對多元化的發展趨向，提出了設計思想的更新，包括從使用者需求出發，運用可持續發展思想以及與城市環境相協調三個方面；通過分析新世紀「適當住房」的內涵，提出了與人共生、與環境共生、與科技共生的創造原則，以及針對具體的社會經濟文化環境，充分滿足人的居住需求的科學的創造方法和基本途徑，從而指導創作實踐，並為今後的住宅設計提供理論依據。 -
