同時，基於隱含多項式曲線良好的物體描述與識別能力，對物體邊界輪廓的擬合、描述、不變量特徵的提取、識別以及物體對稱性檢測作了系統的研究，主要成果及創新之處有： （ 1 ）基於變差函數的變程，提出了圖像多尺度邊緣檢測中尺度大小的自動確定方法；將變差函數的變差值作為紋理的統計和結構特徵，依據變程確定窗口大小，給出一種新的紋理圖像的分割方法。
