系統的設計借鑒了主從式虛擬儀器設計的思想，系統由主機和從機兩部分組成：從機部分即為光合、蒸騰速率測定儀，也是主機的數據採集器，它利用單片機功能全面的優勢，使調理電路和數據採集電路智能化，它配備lcd顯示器和4 4鍵盤，可以獨立野外測量，從而使虛擬儀器在保證數據采樣可靠的前提下，更加方便實用；主機就是pc機的虛擬儀器軟體，既可以安裝在筆記本電腦上，與從機組成便攜式儀器系統進行實地測量、處理數據，擴展從機功能，又可以作教學演示。
