Along with the progress of drilling technology, many new types of bha such as steering motor assembly, dropping assembly with eccentric bend sub, dropping assembly with flexible connection are developed based on common building, dropping and holding assemblies. for using these bha, a new mathematical model is put forward for 3d static analysis of these types of bha under small deflection. and its weighted residual solution is given. the mathematical model includes ( 1 ) differential equations ; ( 2 ) boundary conditions at drill bit, stabilizer, bend angle, diameter change, tangential point and borehole wall ; ( 3 ) lateral forces and deflection angles of bit. the software based upon this method runs well
