目前，國內外船舶建造及管理部門正在投入人力和物力展開對船舶重點部位（機艙）火災的自動檢測及自動噴灑（水霧）滅火系統的研究，現在國外已有幾個廠家生產出相應的產品，但是在國內還沒有類似的產品出現，所以本課題（水基噴霧自動滅火系統的設計與研究）的研究可以說是填補了國內船舶區域火災的自動監測和報警以及自動噴灑（水霧）滅火裝置這個空白，具有很高的理論價值和實際應用意義。
