The author holds that it is of momentous current significance and far - reaching historical significance to study the questions of international trade of genetically modified organisms ( gmos ) and their government management, which expresses specially in the following six respects : promoting the international standing of our country, protecting our country consumers " rights and interests, solving the food safety problems of mankind, driving the sustained development of mankind, increasing worldwide economy welfare and enlisting the new round world trade organization ( wto ) negotiations
筆者認為，對生物經濟背景下我國轉基因農產品國際貿易的政府管理及戰略、政策和規則問題進行研究具有深遠的現實意義，具體表現在以下六個方面：可以更為有效地促進我國國際地位的提升；可以更為有效地保護我國消費者的利益；可以更為有效地解決威脅人類生存的糧食安全問題；可以更為有效地推動人類社會的可持續發展；可以更為有效地促進全球經濟福利的增加；可以更為有效地參與世貿組織新一輪貿易規則的談判。
