研究發現:凹腔上游噴注的液體燃料能夠迅速霧化、蒸發，並在較短距離內依靠對流輸運過程進入凹腔內部;凹腔後壁始終是凹腔火焰駐留的主要區域，在貧油極限時，也是唯一區域，並存在明顯的火焰由後壁向前壁的傳播過程;燃燒狀態下的凹腔剪切層以較大角度向下游主流發展，不再附著于凹腔後壁，與冷流中的凹腔流場特徵相差較大。
