濕地是指天然或人工的、永久或暫時性的沼澤地、泥炭地和水域（有靜止或流動、淡水或鹹水水體） ，包括低潮時水深淺於6米的海水區。The definition of wetlands given by the convention on wetland ( the convention on the wetland of international importance especially as waterfowl habitat ) on wetland is as follows : wetlands are areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary with water that is static or flowing ， fresh, brackish or salt ， including areas of marine water the depth of which at low tide does not exceed six meters
目前國際上公認的濕地定義是《濕地公約》做出的，即：濕地系指不問其為天然或人工、長久或暫時之沼澤地、泥炭地或水域地帶，帶有或靜止或流動、或為淡水、半鹹水或鹹水水體者包括低潮時水深不超過6米的水域。
