The subject of this thesis is the watchtower, a unique local residencial house style in kaiping, which is the famouse native town of overseas chinese in guangdong province. base on the studies of the envolving and developing of this distinctive residensial house style, the effects of the " culture mixing " thinking mode, moral concepts and aesthetic interests on the development of the architecture culture are discussed. also, the thesis will tentatively explore some ways of how to inherit and develope the essence of the local traditional architecture, and build a new town with local features
