國際貿易是建立在商品交易、錢貨兩清的基礎上的結算，又稱為「有形貿易結算」 ，而國際貿易以外的其他經濟活動，以及政治、文化等交流活動，如服務供應、資金調撥、國際借貸等引起的貨幣收付，稱之為「非貿易結算」 ，也叫「無形貿易結算」 。
