為了充分發揮廈門作為「我國東南沿海重要的中心城市，港口及風景旅遊城市」的區位優勢，提高本市及服務腹地的經濟競爭力，改善投資環境，促進外向型經濟發展，調整經濟結構，優化資源配置，以及健全城市服務功能，十分重視物流的發展，近年來廈門市政府對發展地區物流十分重視，為此筆者將發展廈門地區物流業作為一重點研究課題之一，並對相關單位及政府有關部門進行了認真的前期調查研究，在此基礎上完成了《廈門市物流發展規劃研究》論文。
