數字地球為信息社會的未來發展展示了美好前景，而研究地理空間信息共享與互操作正在成為數字地球建設關鍵技術的前沿。作者基於opengis規范和xml標準，首次提出基於internet的地理空間信息標志語言- geoml來實現地理空間信息共享和互操作，研究並設計了可在internet上傳輸顯示和共享電子地圖的geoml標準規范內容，並設計實現了檢驗該標準規范的原型系統，給出了示範。檢驗證明，利用該標準規范可初步達到地理空間信息在internet intranet上的發布共享和互操作。
