在1999年11月至2000年6月的期間，筆者走訪了上海航務管理處、上海港務局計劃處、上海港駁船運輸公司、龍吳港務公司、江蘇省交通廳運輸管理局和航道局、無錫市交通局、無錫市交通運輸協會、無錫市港務有限責任公司、無錫蘇華國際集裝箱服務有限公司，做了大量筆錄，並查閱、收集了大量長江三角洲地區內河集裝箱運輸的第一手資料。
