In image segmentation, the paper improves some common algorithm of gradual segmentation according to its shortcomings. in the first segmentation step, the paper separates one fingerprint image to four parts at first, then confirms foreground board regarded as seeds by gray - level statistical features and apply region growing method, at last combines the four parts to one image that is the first segmentation image. in the second segmentation step, the paper signs the irrecoverable region from the first segmentation image by gray - level and directional statistical features
在指紋圖像分割方面，本文針對一些普通的指紋圖像分級分割演算法的缺點，對它們進行了一些改進:在第一級分割中首先把指紋圖像等分為四個部分，然後利用灰度統計特性分別確定各個部分的前景區小塊，並作為種子塊，再利用灰度及方向等統計特性定義種子區域生長規則並進行前景區域生長，最後將四個部分合成一幅圖像即得到了一幅被分割掉背景的指紋圖像;在第二級分割中利用灰度及方向等統計特性分割掉第一級分割圖像中的不可恢復的模糊區。
