北村龍平前作《 azumi 》的片長也不短，但節奏明快，劇情豐富，打鬥方面也不乏過癮靈巧的奇招，可是今次卻明顯失手，劍斗的場面拖得又長又悶，單調乏味，有形而無神，情戲也拍不出感動和悲情，讓一眾支持者失望。
