Abstract : with the basic concept of damage mechanics and based on the fatigue damage equation of concrete materials, the multistage fatigue damage process of concrete materials is deeply and theoretically analyzed. accordingly the pathway of multistage fatigue damage with the characteristics of independence and continuance is provided, and the non - linearity multistage fatigue damage equation of concrete materials is inferred. the equation clearly reflects that the loading sequence has an effect on the fatigue accumulating life expectancy ; with the use of this equation the effect of overloading on the material life expectancy is analyzed
