The map symbol base system is one of the basic functions of geographic information system. as a basic research, it developed rapidly with the development of information technologies. under the guidance of the map symbol and software developing method theories, using the thinking of " design pattern ", this paper put forwards a design method of the two dimensions symbol editor. lt is researched from the theory to the practise. the topics of this paper as follows : 1 this paper not only discussed the question of symbol design system, but also discussed the background and contexts of research based on the map symbol theory and the researching actuality 2 by introducing the background of map symbol base ' s technology, this paper puts forward a feasible developing method and introduces some developing tools, such as unified modelling language, rose etc. 3
地圖符號庫系統是地理信息系統（ gis ）中不可缺少的基礎功能模塊之一，它作為gis基本的研究課題，隨著信息技術（ informationtechnologies ， it ）的發展也在迅速發展著。本文在地圖符號和軟體開發理論及組件技術的指導下，運用先進的「設計模式」思想，提出二維符號編輯系統的設計思路，並且從理論到實踐進行了較為全面系統的研究和探討。其主要內容包括： 1 、從地圖符號理論基礎和研究現狀出發，對目前符號編輯系統存在的問題、課題研究背景和研究的內容進行了探討。
