    依國際慣例及我國外國護照簽證條例施行細則第5條第2項1項之規定：前項所定有效護照，其所餘效期應在6個月以上。但條約或協定另有規定者，不在此限。故原則上，申請來臺簽證者的護照效期應為6個月以上，護照效期不足者，除非其所屬國家與我國定有條約或協定，否則應先辦理延長其護照效期，再申請來臺簽證。
