本會環境保育項目委員會成員兼觀魚大賽評判dr . andy cornish表示：香港的海洋生物出乎意料的富饒，單是魚類已有約千種，可惜由於面對過度捕撈和污染等威脅，魚類種群並不健康。The professional award for the highest number of fish species recorded in one dive went to canon cuhk msl team, from the chinese university marine science lab who recorded 53 species of fish in a dive at the coral communities of sharp island in sai kung. the same team also won the champion award for the highest total number of species recorded by a team on the day, with a new record of 96 species, up six from last years winning total of 90 species
觀魚大賽專業大獎由canon cuhk msl來自香港中文大學海洋科學實驗室隊奪得，他們在西貢橋咀珊瑚群落一次下潛中，記錄得53個魚類品種他們亦憑著發現96種魚類，成為當日錄得最多魚類的隊伍，比去年的紀錄90種多6種，在刷新大會紀錄之餘，勇奪觀魚大賽冠軍大獎。
