    本文主要從三個大方面論述了重慶主城區商業步行街的空間環境：第一個方面主要回顧了商業步行街的理論發展及其對步行街設計的影響，並簡單介紹了重慶商業步行街的建設及其發展的過程；第二個方面主要從選址、平面布局、環境設施和街道活動、空間形態等幾個方面剖析評價重慶商業步行街，分析利弊，指出其優缺點，使今後的重慶的商業步行街建設能吸取精華，去其糟粕；第三個方面主要根據重慶城市特色和地方文化特色等方面來創造具有重慶地方特色的商業步行街的空間環境。
