This article combined the present new situation of the development of science and technology in the universities, and summarized the common methods that were often used in the present evaluation of scientific research performance and the coexistent drawbacks, with the aim at enhancing the rationality of the scientific research evaluation. this study demonstrated the relation of metric analysis of scientific papers and the scientific performance in the universities by analyzing periodical literatures distribution and citation rules, according to the theory of scientometrics. this article also emphasizes on metric analysis of scientific papers and investigated the related indexes and their meaning
