This thesis points out that the exploitation and design of the image of tourism resource is a system engineering, which requires to define its topic, function, and ov erall image based on the detailed analysis so that the complete system of tourism image, tourism exhibition, and tourism propagation and communication for one particular tourism destination can be established. t h e purposes are : to make people get familiar to the image of tourism resource, to establish the whole theoretical system of exploitation and design of the image of tourism resource, to develop its actual program, to provide theoretical base for the tourism management of tourism destination, to solve the real problems embodied in the tourism destination, to increase the attractiveness of the tourism destination to the tourist, finally to make the tourism destination a sustainable development
