Abstract : tight trips often occur for hole undergauge during drilling in east sichuan oilfield. the paper analysis the causes of hole undergauge, proposes preventive and treatment measures which are to optimize design from geologic structure features, to use suitable fluid column pressure, to select different drilling fluid types, to adopt advanced drilling technology and perfect field technical management. therefore, good economic benefit will be obtained
