對片段進行克隆、亞克隆之後測序分析，發現與已克隆的來源於馬紅球菌的膽固醇氧化酶基因cboe有99的同源性；並且三次獨立的pcr均得到相同的片段，所克隆的基因序列與choe相比，連續缺失三個堿基（ ttc ） ，即相應的氨基酸序列缺失一個氨基酸（ phe ） ，因此判斷所克隆的基因片段與choe屬同一基因家族或原有基因的天然突變體，命名為choew 。
