胃動素（ motilin ， mt ）是由小腸上段粘膜內分泌細胞合成並分泌的22個氨基酸組成的腦腸肽，調節消化間期胃運動， pvn內給予胃動素和胃動內酯（ motilides ）可增強清醒大鼠胃運動，中樞微量注射胃動素可誘導pvn中立即早期基因c - fos的表達，提示中樞胃動素參與胃運動的調控，人ghrelin和胃動素之間有36的相似性，而且二者的受體之間有50的相似性，因而有人稱ghrelin為「胃動素相關肽」 。
