本論文正是基於以上背景和條件，從生態環境（特別是地域氣候）對建築形態影響的角度出發對我國西北乾熱氣候區傳統聚落進行剖析，重新認識傳統聚落在適應自然環境（特別是氣候）方面的價值；重新認識傳統聚落「生存基因」方面的價值，為該地區人居環境的可持續發展尋求一種可行的模式。
