在野外典型路線調查的基礎上，對燕山地區東段承德、平泉地區的中生代盆地中發育的粗碎屑沉積層，進行了系統的物源分析與古流測定，並在此基礎上重點剖析了盆地的發育、火山活動、構造變動三者之間的關系，總結了本區中生代盆地發育規律及盆山耦合特徵，並將盆山演化劃分為：三疊紀?早侏羅紀的構造擠壓隆升與撓曲盆地發育階段階段，中晚侏羅紀的構造擠壓?火山活動與類前陸盆地發育階段，早白堊世的拉張斷陷盆地發育階段。
